Toledo Police Benefits
The Toledo Police Department offers an attractive and competitive fringe benefit package.
- Trainee Benefit-
Trainees only receive hospitalization and death benefits during the academy training period. Upon the employee successfully completing the academy, the employee shall be entitled to full fringe benefits.
- Medical-
The City will provide hospital,medical,surgical and major medical,outpatient diagnostic laboratory services and vision care, through the provider selected by the city. The program will provide coverage for the employee, his/her spouse and dependents up to the age of twenty-three. The city will also provide a major dental plan and a prescriptive drug purchase program.
- Sick Time and Sick Pay-
Regular employees of the police department shall be credited with seven (7) hours of sick time for each month of service to the department.
- Maternity Pay-
Female employees have the option of using sick pay for maternity, to the extent of total accumulated days credited to her. Female employees can also choose to be placed on leave of absence without pay for maternity. Male employees have the option to use up to ten (10) days of his accumulated sick time.
- Death Benefits-
A death benefit of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) will be paid to the designated beneficiary of a regular employee.
