Officers Dave Bettinger and Mark Mugler perform the Department's crime analysis duties. These officers, working in the Crime Analysis Office (CAO), report to Lieutenant Mel Stachura of the Technical Crimes Section. CAO tracks felony suppressible crimes, provides statistical data, produces daily/weekly/monthly crime maps, compiles Block Watch information, and creates special crime alerts to be used by officers during their tours of duty.
Crime Analysis is also responsible for the Crime statistics that are posted on our website. These statistics serve to make you more aware of reported criminal activity around Toledo.
Every year the Crime Analysis Office reviews and processes thousands of reports to detect crime trends, completes hundreds of special crime alerts, and processes tens of thousands of digital photographs. The unit also administers the department's Coffee Cup Award, an internal incentive award program that recognizes outstanding police work.
