Driving Safety

Children are heading back to school, so below are some driving safety tips to follow when children are going to and from school.

  • Drive slowly when entering or exiting driveways. Drive cautiously and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods, school zones, and at intersections.

  • Adhere to the posted speed limit in school zones when children are on their way to or from school. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the start and dismissal times of schools along your route.

  • Be sure to stop for school buses displaying flashing lights and an extended stop sign as the bus driver is in the process of picking up or dropping off children.

  • Reduce distractions inside your car such as talking on the phone, eating, or putting on make-up. Never text and drive. It is against the law and it can be deadly.
