PAL was formed to provide a caring organization to learn positive values and practice them in activities supervised and led by responsible adults

Today's youth typically have too much time on their hands. At times, they have nothing productive with which to occupy themselves, as well as often being in need of someone they can trust and depend on. Therefore, PAL was established to provide role models, as well as educational and recreational activities, for the less fortunate children in Lucas County.
PAL provides the youth of this area with a number of coed programs throughout the year. In September of 2003, the Toledo PAL even hosted the national PAL boxing championship, which was an Olympic qualifier.
Although PAL targets the at-risk, impoverished youth, any child is welcome to participate. It is a great way for children to make new friends and find new interests.

PAL is a delinquency prevention program that relies heavily on athletics and recreational activities to create a bond between the Toledo Police Department, Lucas County Sheriff's Office, Toledo Fire Department and the kids in the community. The framework allows law enforcement officers to become mentors to young people in order to reinforce the values of hard work, competition, and respect. This type of positive influence can counter the gang influence, substance abuse and potential violence that can occur in the under-serviced areas of our community.
PAL is a joint effort sponsored by the Toledo Police Department and the Lucas County Sheriff's Office, and is assisted by numerous community volunteers. Since its establishment in 1996, PAL has provided hundreds of children with an escape from life on the streets through extracurricular activities. This program services the indigent youngsters who, without PAL, could not afford to participate in such activities. It provides our children a better choice.
