For those who continue to have problems printing the
images displayed, the following was found to work...
although we do not know why.
Many of the PCs that are having problems have Quicktime
installed, and this program is very tenacious in opening the
images in PaperVision - even after the process described on
the preceding page is followed to the letter. One solution
we have found is to completely remove Quicktime from the
PC... but the version removed has to be the latest version
found at
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
Removal of earlier versions of Quicktime result in the
complete inability to view the TIF images within
PaperVision. In other words, you have to upgrade to the
latest version of Quicktime (free download), and then once
it's installed, uninstall it.
We found that once Quicktime 7 was removed from the
system, we had success viewing and printing PaperVision
images using TIF file associations such as "imaging",
"imaging preview", "Microsoft Office Document Imaging File,"
and other picture viewing programs that may be installed on
the PC. (Please refer to the preceding page for instructions
on changing file associations.)
We continue to work to understand why this issue has
surfaced. It does not appear to be a problem with
PaperVision itself, but with the configuration of the
"user's" PC. If anyone finds additional workarounds, please
let us know at 419-936-2271 or
toledo.police@ci.toledo.oh.us so that we may share them
with others.
