The Toledo Police Department is happy to provide you with a way to obtain City of Toledo Vehicle Accident Reports. You must have Internet Explorer 5.0 or above to access reports. If you are using a dial-up modem to search our internet site, your download time will vary depending on the quality of your connection.

Report Viewer: TPD  provides accident report service through PaperVision Enterprise software. (AVAILABLE FOR WINDOWS ONLY)

You have two options from which to choose in order to view these reports.

Dial-Up Connection: This system does not require any special software or browser plug-in to be installed on your computer. All documents are viewed in your computer's default .tif file (picture file) program. All documents are displayed as a new web page.

Some users have reported difficulty printing images, receiving the message: "You must have 'Use PaperVision Viewer' selected in your Document Display Options in order to use this functionality." If you encounter this message, it is very likely your local machine is set to view TIF files with a program that is not compatible with printing (such as Quicktime). Go to My Computer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types and scroll down to and select TIF. Click on "Change" and choose a different program with which to open TIF files... such as "Microsoft Office Document Imaging." Click OK and then close the Folder Options window. You should now be able to print the images.

(If this does not work, here is another workaround)

If you are running any pop-up blocker software, you may have to disable it in order to display a new window containing a picture of an accident report page.

High-Speed Connection:  A high-speed connection allows you to download and install the PaperVision viewer, a 15 Mb file. This viewer will permit the viewing, printing, or emailing of the accident reports with little problem. Simply click on the link below and then check the high-speed box at the bottom of the query screen. The download will commence once you select a report to view.

In order to make the reports available sooner on the Internet, the initial indexing is by date & location only. If you are searching for an accident that occurred within the last several days you may not be able to find it by name or license plate.

To search for a report you must enter a date or a date range. You will be provided with an index of the first twenty-five reports that occurred on that date. You may continue and look for the next twenty-five reports and so on.
When you have decided which report you wish to retrieve, just double click on the report number and the first page will down load to your computer along with a tool bar which allows you to scroll and page forward through the report and to print the report.
