AUTO THEFT UNIT

The Department's Auto Theft Unit was implemented to identify and target auto theft-related crimes. The unit operates under the command of Sergeant Paul Hickey, who supervises three investigators. The unit in conjunction with Michigan authorities investigated the theft of a motor coach (see below) from Pontiac Michigan. A local subject was identified as a possible suspect and was apprehended not only in possession of the motor coach but on his way to pick up a group for charter to San Antonio, Texas. The subject was convicted and incarcerated in 2007 for this offense. Value on the motor coach was estimated at $400,000.
