Information sought in Toledoan's death:

Toledo police are seeking information through the Crime Stopper program about an incident June 8 in which a severely hurt man was found unconscious, propped against a light pole in south-central Toledo.  Sherman Smith, 56, of 742 Greene St., died 12 days later in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, authorities said.

A passing motorist called 911 about 3:30 a.m. after seeing Mr. Smith at City Park Avenue and Sterling Street being helped by two men who apparently moved him from the street to the curb.  Police found Mr. Smith unconscious with apparent blunt-force trauma to his head. He hadn't been struck by a car and didn't appear to have been robbed, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stopper program. Callers may remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
