At your Business, watch for these pitfalls that may activate your alarm:
° Swinging doors or windows
° Banners or signs
° Plants or curtains caught in drafts
° Unsupervised guests
° Untrained, unaware, or uncaring employees

 

Highlights of the Toledo Alarm Ordinance:
A false alarm results when an alarm system is activated, and the Toledo Police and/or Fire Departments respond unnecessarily or when no person or property is in need of service.

Those who own, control, and/or operate an alarm system that has been falsely activated must take responsibility for the cost of responding to the false alarm.

Information concerning the false alarm ordinance or other questions concerning fines should be directed to this office.

Keep it running check your system frequently, and include these steps:
° Test your system's batteries semi-annually, and replace them after 3 years
° Test your alarm system monthly
° Make sure that your alarm company performs routine maintenance checks
° Refer to your owner's manual or contact your alarm company if you are unsure of, or have questions about, your alarm
Fines issued will follow this schedule for police action:

° First false alarm...Warning-no fine

° Second false alarm...$25.00

° Third and each subsequent false alarm...$25.00 increments within a calendar year.
