Missing Persons Information Page
It is the policy of the Toledo Police Department to accept all missing person reports from anyone concerning an apparent credible report of any person, regardless of age, who meets the following criteria: possible involuntary absence, voluntary absence if other circumstances are involved, e.g., mental or significant medical problems, very young or very old age, significant mental or physical handicaps, suicidal, etc; or those under eighteen (18) years of age suspected of being a runaway.
There is no mandatory waiting period for citizens to report a Missing Person / or Runaway Child. Citizens, who reside in Toledo, who are attempting to make such a report should call 9-1-1 immediately and an uniformed Toledo Police Officer will be sent to the reporting persons location. Persons who do not live in Toledo, should contact the Investigative Services Section at 419-245-3142 or Detective Vincent Mauro at 419-245-3119.
Citizens reporting an missing adult (usually a person over 18 years of age) will be asked to sign an additional report, listing the unusual circumstances, surrounding the missing persons absence. This additional report is required by National Crime Information Center (NCIC) reporting guidelines for inclusion into the NCIC database.
In cases involving the reporting of Missing/Runaway juveniles, it is beneficial but not mandatory, that the reporting person has the childs; date of birth, social security number, and name of the childs dentist.
