Motor Pool

The Toledo Police motor pool is attached to the Personnel and Public Affairs Bureau of the Administrative Services Division. The duties consist of tracking, maintaining, and assigning all of the motor vehicles of the Toledo Police Department. In addition, the motor pool processes billing for departmental purchases and maintains shipping and delivery services in the Safety Building garage.
 
The total distance driven annually by officers of the Toledo Police Department averages over two million miles!
 
The fleet consists of a total of 340 motor vehicles, of which 166 are marked patrol units. The mainstay is the Ford Crown Victoria of which 138 are currently in service. The remaining marked vehicles are Chevrolet Impalas and Caprices, as well as 11 Dodge and Chevrolet transport vans. Unmarked vehicles account for another 119 cars of various Ford and Chevy models.
     
The Toledo Police Department also operates 43 specialty vehicles such as the mobile command post, bomb truck, pick-up trucks, vans, trailers, watercraft, and helicopter.
