The Property Investigation Section is comprised of the following:

• The Burglary Unit, which investigates felony offenses involving the trespass into occupied and unoccupied structures with the intent to commit theft and/or other criminal offenses.
• The Theft Unit, which investigates theft offenses where the value of the property stolen is over $500 constituting a felony.
• The Auto Theft Unit, which investigates offenses involving the theft of motor vehicles.

Property Investigation Section unit supervisors assign cases based on the presence of solvability factors, some of which are:

• The suspect is known or there is significant identifying information.
• There is a witness to the offense.
• There is potential physical evidence at the scene of the crime.
• There is a suspect vehicle identified.
• There is the potential for stolen property to be traced and identified.
