The Technical Services Unit is under the command of Sergeant Jeffrey Thieman.  The Unit is charged with supporting all technical aspects of the Toledo Police Department including, but not limited to: computers (desktop, laptop and in-car), computer networks, digital cameras, video cameras,  and the Toledo Police Website.

Technical Services in involved in a number of large, ongoing projects:

Automated Field Reporting  Bio-Key Active testing phase.
In-Car Video Camera Upgrade Product evaluation period. New DP2 system pulled and returned to vendor. Evaluating systems from Kustom, L3 Mobile Vision, Vision Hawk, Coban, Digital Ally and ICop
Wireless Broadband 802.11b/g Network Construction Self construct / Cisco communication products HotSpot configuration and testing.
Mobile Data Computers GTSI (Panasonic CF-29 Toughbook) and Led Co (docking hardware); Motorola MW800; and MW810 Configuration for 802.11 (b/g), CAD interface, and department intranet interface in field-testing phase.
ALPRS PIPS One system operational; second on order
Surveillance Cameras CelPlan Technologies Design and Installation phase.
