Vice / Narcotics Unit
The Vice/Narcotics Unit is the largest investigative
unit in the Special Enforcement Bureau. The section consists of
one lieutenant, three sergeants, and sixteen detectives divided
into a day, afternoon, and night shift in an effort to provide
continuous enforcement and investigation of vice/narcotics related
offenses within the City of Toledo and its surrounding areas.
The law enforcement function of the Vice/Narcotics Unit in the
following respective areas is:
Narcotics
1). Identification, and prosecution of low to mid level narcotics
traffickers through short to mid term investigation.
2). Asset forfeiture derived from narcotics trafficking.
3). Providing assistance for Field Operations personnel involved
with street-related drug arrests.
4). Joint investigations with other state and local law enforcement
agencies.
Prostitution
1). Identification, investigation, and prosecution of establishments
and persons engaged in prostitution, solicitation, and/or public
indecency, (i.e. massage parlors, book stores, street prostitutes
etc.).
2). Asset forfeiture derived from prostitution offenses.
Liquor
1). Enforcement of all liquor laws.
2). Investigation, review, inspection, acceptance or objection
of liquor permits applications as it pertains to:
- New permits
- Transfers of location and/or ownership
- Stock transfers
3). Inspection of liquor premises and compliance
with permits.
Gambling
1). Identification, investigation, and prosecution of gambling
related offenses.
2). Asset forfeiture derived from illegal gambling activities.
Also included among the duties of the Vice/Narcotics Unit, are
the review and inspection, approval, or objections of the following:
- Predictors licenses
- Pool hall licenses
- Massage parlor licenses
- Arcade licenses
- Dance hall permits
