In October 2000, a full-time Video Unit was established for the first time. The Video Unit documents special events, analyzes video surveillance camera evidence and duplicates video evidence that may be needed during a court trial. In addition, the Video Unit is responsible for producing roll-call training videos used to explain changes in the policies and procedures of the police department.
The primary camera used by the video unit is the Canon XL-1. The video editing appliance is by AVID, and forensic video analysis is on the AVID system using Ocean Systems - "Detective".
